Here's a simplified run down of Hell is for Heroes time as a band

Hell is for heroes are:

Justin Schlossberg - Vocals

Joe Birch - Drums

Will McGonagle - Guitar

Tom O'Donoghue - Guitar

James Findlay - Bass

The band got their name from the 1962 Steve McQueen world war two film 'Hell is for Heroes'.

Will McGonagle and Joe Birch were both formerly members of the band Sympnosium who split in February 2000.

Old school friends of the two, Tom O'Donoghue and James Findlay started playing with the two and in August 2000 they all met Justin Schlossberg through mutual friends and Hell is for Heroes was born.

They released a double A side of Sick/Happy and Cut down on Superior Quality Recordings. It got a lot of air play on Radio one and rave reviews from the likes of Kerrang, NME and Rock Sound.

In 2001 Hell is for Heroes signed with EMI and secured a long term contract.

They also toured most of the year playing with the likes of Hundred Reasons, Sunna, American Hi Fi and Alien Ant Farm. Whilst also playing events such as the Ozzfest and both Reading and Leeds Festivals.

Hell is for Heroes released 'You Drove Me To It' and it charted at number 63 in UK charts.

'I Can Climb Mountains' reached number 41 in UK charts.

They were nominated for 'Best British Newcomer' Award at the Kerrang Awards.

The guys flew off the LA to record their debut album 'The Neon Handshake' with Pelle Henricsson and Eskil Lovstrom ( who have before worked with the likes of Refused) The album was then mixed and finished in Sweden.

Night Vision charted at number 38 when released that year.

Most recently in February 2003 'You Drove Me To It' was re-released and charted at number 28.

Things are getting better and bigger by the day and it looks like Hell is for Heroes are getting the acclaim and attention they rightly deserve.
